Previous Interim Appointments
Assignments in progress or completed by Interim Executive Appointments include the following interim roles:
Senior Bookkeeper for Customs Broker and Freight Forwarder
Following a sustained period of growth, what was once a small business is now a thriving enterprise with a workforce expanding at an almost exponential rate. Managing Directors often find that driving strategy and ensuring an appropriate level of governance is overtaken by supervising day-to-day operations.
Two Business Development Managers for a Start-Up
We appointed two BDMs for a 6-month assignment to develop the minimum viable product for establishing a hazardous waste management startup. As a new entrant to an industry dominated by major players, establishing relationships with existing operators to provide solutions for intractable hazardous waste streams was critical. Solutions provided to customers with problematic waste disposal confirmed the efficacy of the new business opportunity. The Board approved the strategic plan and permanently appointed one of the BDMs as the inaugural General Manager.
Export Logistics Coordinator
This role in export freight forwarding had been vacant for some time. We identified an interim replacement with international export/import transferable skills experience, which the industry overlooked. Acting promptly, we secured this appointee for the client immediately. The client has been impressed with the skills and attention to detail and is facilitating permanent residency in Australia.
Customer Service Officer
The role of WA CSO for this Australia-wide industrial supplier had been vacant for some time. An appointee with transferable customer service skills from an unaligned industry was chosen. Establishing open working relationships in a small office was an essential requirement. The head office was particularly impressed with the appointee’s performance and confirmed a permanent appointment.
Procurement Manager
We appointed an internationally experienced trading specialist for a three-month assignment to scope a new role in procuring and exporting mining and engineering equipment and materials to global mining operations. The appointee successfully established relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and clients and accepted a permanent appointment in the position.
Technical Operations Manager
Significant growth in the recently established hazardous waste management business required an operational manager with specialised technical skills and experience to take day-to-day responsibility for the receival and processing of hazardous waste streams. Once the role was scoped, the interim manager exited and was replaced by a permanent appointment.
Customer Service & Development Sales Officer
An appointee from another employer in a similar industry was appointed for a 3-month assignment to replace a customer service role and expand the role to include development sales entering a new growth customer segment. The appointee recently completed the assignment and is being appointed as a permanent employee.
Import Clerk
This industry in Australia is plagued by a lack of skilled and experienced personnel in international freight to meet demand. We identified a recent logistics management graduate who was committed to entering the industry. The appointee completed a six-month assignment before an organisational restructuring and accepted a role similar to that of another industry employer.
The key to a successful interim management
